Stages of the adoption process – please read before enquiring about adoption.
Step 1: Adoption Enquiry
Complete our adoption enquiry form. This helps us check that you’re a suitable match. If successful, we’ll move on to Step 2. If you are applying for a particular cat, please read the description properly to ensure you meet the criteria.
Step 2: Home Check
We’ll arrange a home check, either in person or via phone/video. This gives you the chance to ask questions and allows us to make sure your home is suitable for the cat you’re interested in. We may suggest a different cat or advise if we’re unable to proceed. If successful, we’ll move on to Step 3.
Step 3: Meet & Greet
We’ll set up a WhatsApp group with you, the fosterer, and Cafo’s trustees, and arrange a meet and greet with the cat. This helps us see how you and the cat interact. You can also ask the fosterer any questions, as they know the cat best. If all goes well, we’ll move on to Step 4.
Step 4: Adoption Confirmation
We’ll confirm your adoption and agree on a rehoming date. To reserve the cat, the adoption fee must be paid. The adoption fee is currently a minimum of £100. If the fee has not been paid, the cat will not be reserved and other interested adopters may meet the cat and pursue the adoption.
