The Cafo Rescue Story
CAFO Rescue began over 15 years ago when two passionate volunteers, April and Sue, started scanning lost cats for microchips with Harvey’s Army—hoping to reunite them with their families or find help for those abandoned. But as more cats needed urgent care and rescue spaces grew scarce, it was clear more had to be done.

April and Sarah then launched a Facebook selling page to raise funds for vet bills and support struggling rescues. Then, on Boxing Day 2020, everything changed. They were called to help an injured cat hit by a car - Noel - pictured here.

It was a wake-up call: the rescue network was overstretched, and vulnerable cats were slipping through the cracks.
​
In February 2021, Liz joined the mission, and CAFO Rescue - originally Cheshire Animal Fundraising Organisation—was officially formed. As the need grew, so did the team, with Dee and Sandra helping CAFO achieve registered charity status in July 2023.

From humble beginnings, CAFO Rescue has become a vital lifeline for cats in crisis across Crewe and beyond—powered by an amazing group of volunteers, dedication, community, and the belief that every cat deserves a second chance.

Cafo Rescue is a passionate, volunteer-led cat rescue organisation founded and managed by four dedicated trustees.
United by their love for cats, they work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cats in need, while also raising vital funds to keep the rescue running.

Behind every cat we've helped is a whole community of incredible people. Alongside our dedicated trustees, we’re lucky to be supported by a wonderful team of volunteers who make everything possible.

From our homecheckers, admin and finance helpers, fosterers, and event supporters, to those who donate, shop, or sell on our behalf – your contribution matters. Some drive cats to safety, others make sure there's always food in a bowl. Shops kindly host our food collection baskets, and supporters are always there to lend a hand or a kind word.
