Female, 2 Years Old - 🌟🌟 At first, we thought Star had been hit by a car. But X-rays told a different story: she had suffered multiple bite wounds, likely from approaching a dog she thought would be friendly—having grown up around dogs, she had no reason to fear them. The injuries were severe: a dislocated elbow, a broken sternum, and signs that she’d been suffering for quite some time. The risk of serious infection was high. She was also crawling with ticks and fleas, a clear sign of prolonged neglect.

When the vets scanned her microchip, they found it wasn’t up to date—but that didn’t stop them. After some detective work, they managed to track down her family. Star had been missing for four long weeks. Her heartbroken family in Kidsgrove had searched tirelessly, never giving up hope. How she ended up so far from home remains a mystery.

When we finally contacted her owner, she was devastated. With heartbreaking honesty, she admitted she simply couldn’t afford the urgent treatment and aftercare Star needed. In an act of pure love and selflessness, she made the incredibly difficult decision to surrender Star to CAFO so she could get the care she so desperately deserved.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of her incredible fosterer, Laura, Star has come a long way. She’s undergone major surgery, endured weeks of crate rest, and been showered with love, patience, and care. Laura’s unwavering dedication has made all the difference in Star’s recovery.

Today, Star is thriving. She’s brighter, stronger, and starting to show her playful, affectionate side once again. She’s even begun using a scratching post—something that might seem small, but for Star, it’s a huge milestone on her healing journey.

We’re absolutely thrilled with her progress. While she still has a little way to go and another vet check-up ahead, she’s well on the road to recovery. Once the vets give us the all-clear, we’ll start the search for Star’s perfect forever home.
